Where is my freight after Irma?

As we are sure many of you are aware, Hurricane Irma made a direct hit to the Florida Keys, and caused wind and water damage on its way up the west coast of Florida. Downtown Miami saw water levels reaching several feet, destroying businesses and homes, and causing issues that the state is currently working to repair.

Because of these damages to buildings, roads, and trees, there is currently a freight embargo levied by every major carrier. The carriers with terminals in the southern Florida area are currently inspecting all the freight for damages and are working to get that cleared out before they can start accepting and moving new freight.

Because of this, most carriers are not accepting freight headed into Florida. Some of you may have had freight picked up before the hurricane that is now being returned to the shipper. Most carriers seem optimistic that they will be returning to full service by the end of the week, or the beginning of next week. Many customers still have freight in possession of the original terminal which should be moving soon as they work to clear up existing freight and the ensuing backlog.

Are you unclear of your freight’s status? We are here to help! Please reach out to us for help getting answers.

About the Team
As part of his podcast, Mark recently traveled to Penticton, British Columbia on the weekend of August 25th.  He went to cover the International Triathlon Union Long Course World Championships.
Mark and his co-host interviewed some of the top professionals competing there, including the male World Champion, Canadian Lionel Sanders.
When asked about his feelings on this area of Canada, Mark replied, “beautiful, but sadly affected by wild fires.” He continued to comment about the mountains, vineyards, and lakes that made the area so scenic. He also commented on how laid back the people of this city were.
