This year flew by as November is already almost over bringing us closer to 2026. We enter one of the more challenging times of year for the logistics industry. Cooler temperatures and shifting weather patterns can bring unexpected challenges, while holiday demand continues to rise. Fuel surcharges and delivery fees have crept up again across all carriers. We’ve adjusted our rate tables so our clients don’t get buried in additional costs. With Thanksgiving here, we also want to express our gratitude to our clients and partners. It’s the trust and teamwork we share with our clients that make every season not just manageable, but meaningful. We wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving!

Please note that carriers will be closed November 27th and 28th. If you have a need on Friday the 28th, please reach out directly so we can find an option.

How Do You Stay Ahead This Holiday Season?

Here are some tips to help your freight move as smooth as the logistics world will allow. Most unexpected charges come from one thing: wrong package dimensions. Carriers are scanning more shipments with dimensional cameras, and one inch off can trigger an “oversize” fee. These scanners are pin point accurate. We recently spoke to a national carrier’s rep and he explained how many of these scanners are in their system and continue to grow. They’re not the only carrier as more and more are doing this. This is becoming the equivalent of moving freight without a scale and getting reweighted. As we saw this summer, NMFC class codes are moving to more density based products which will mean accuracy in your freight is even more important.  Before you print a label, measure the actual packed box. If you need help with understanding carrier standards, our support team can walk you through it.

Between November 25 and December 23, residential deliveries will slow down, especially for larger pieces of freight. If your orders include large or heavy pieces, ship at least three business days earlier than usual. Commercial deliveries will stay on schedule. However, be mindful as we approach the holiday as docks become congested and carriers dwindle down to skeleton crews.

ABOUT THE TEAM

In past editions of “About the Team,” we’ve focused on individual accomplishments. This time, we’re celebrating our team as a whole—and the commitment we share to finding solutions for our clients.From day one, our team has gone above and beyond to meet challenges head-on. One early example involved a small but urgent shipment to a remote area in Northern New York. The shipment was stuck in Central New York as the carrier only delivers to a remote area once a week. The carrier had already made its weekly run, leaving the clients customer urgently needing it. Todd stepped in, arranged a local contact to pick up and deliver the freight, and personally covered the travel costs. The shipment was delivered that same day, and that client is still with us a decade later.

More recently, a client needed to secure a high-value shipment but they were traveling overseas. Understanding the sensitivity due to the value, Todd offered to personally handle the security materials. He arranged his client to leave the material and he would pick up and deliver to the warehouse. By luck, the driver was there and he stayed onsite to ensure the freight was sealed, photographed, and shipped safely.

These are just a couple of many instances where our team goes the extra mile to deliver results. We take pride in solving complex logistic challenges and earning the trust of clients who have partnered with us for more than 15 years. This is how we recently developed our slogan, ‘Logistics made simple. Service made exceptional.’
