Filing a Claim
As we all probably know, damages sometimes occur in transit, no matter how careful a carrier is. In order to boost your chances of getting a maximum refund on your claim, we will highlight some very important steps you should be taking:

  • Document EVERYTHING. Every inch of suspected damage should be noted on the POD before the driver signs it.
  • Back up your damage claim with pictures. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and in this case it could be worth a thousand dollars.
  • Prevent losses with insurance. On valuable shipments, consider adding additional insurance. It can easily be done in CarrierRate when quoting, and could be very useful in the unfortunate event that your freight is damaged.
  • Double and triple check your information before sending in the claim. One small clerical error could cause you to lose out on your claim. Leave nothing to chance!
