Happy New Year!

We hope you had a safe and happy holiday season.  We have been working hard to start this new year strong.  As your Freight Consultants, we want to do all we can to help your business grow while making your job easier.
The Midwest and Northeast have been getting slammed with very cold weather and, in certain parts, multiple feet of snow.  Please keep this in mind when scheduling your freight.  Weather can severely delay your shipment. Please contact us if you need help figuring out your best option.

Were our articles about Carrierrate 2.0 informative to you?  We would love to know and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Concealed Damage
Sometimes freight is received and does not appear to be damaged in any way.  However, damage can occur inside the pallet that is not visible until the freight is broken down.  This is called ‘concealed damage’.  There are immediate actions you or your consignee must do.

When a shipment is received damaged and it is not notated on the signed POD, this is considered ‘concealed damage.’ It is industry-wide that all concealed damage must be reported to the carrier within five days. If this damage is not reported within that time frame, the carrier will deny 100% of all damage claims. It is important for all receivers to inspect the freight before signing the POD clear in every single instance. This short process could ultimately save you and your customer thousands in damage coverage.

If damage is later found and the freight was signed clear, please notify us immediately. Once the carrier is notified of the concealed damage, you have up to 90 days to submit your damage claim.  The last catch to this situation is if there is concealed damage, all carriers pay only a third of the filed claims.

About the Team
Have you noticed the great graphics designed on our Facebook page?  These are from the work of our talented dispatcher, Andrea. Andrea has been creating these for us for a few years now, coming up with beautiful and creative graphics for each holiday and season.
If you think she does a great job, let her know!

Contest
We are doing something a little different this month.  Both of Todd’s nieces are selling girl scout cookies again this year.  His oldest niece is trying to sell 1,000 boxes so she can attend a camp this summer.  Her little sister is contributing all of her sales to her big sister so she can go to this camp.  Todd wants to hep her again, as he can’t get over how thoughtful and loving these sisters are being to each other.

In the past, Todd has purchased an X amount of boxes and handed them out.  This year he will match every box you purchase and buy a box for you!  So if you buy 2 boxes, he’ll buy 2 more and you can either keep the two or you can donate them and he will send them to military stationed overseas.
We thank you for your time and, as always, appreciate any feedback you may have.  What would you like to read about?
Sincerely,

Millennium Shipping Team
