Over the next few newsletters, we will be taking some time to inform and educate our clients on some simple ways to help you avoid those unwelcome rebills.
Non-Commercial Deliveries
Many shippers are not familiar with what constitutes a non-commercial delivery. Delivery to any address that does not have a designated shipping/receiving area with either a dock or forklift and/or pallet jack to remove the freight from the truck is considered non-commercial.
How Do I Select the Appropriate Non-Commercial Delivery Destination?
In CarrierRate, when scheduling new shipments, you will see a drop-down menu to the right of the screen labeled ‘Non-Commercial Deliveries.’ Once clicked, it will present a list of non-commercial delivery destinations:
By selecting the correct non-commercial delivery destination, you will eliminate any surprise or unnecessary charges by the carrier for use of pallet jack, lift gate, or limited access fees not considered in the original quote. Following these guidelines could save you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars each year by avoiding rebills.
