What You Need to Know About Supply Chain and Corvid19

First, an update from our corporate office:”GlobalTranz is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and working with our agents and their clients to implement resilient strategies to weather the storm. Our cross-functional coronavirus Task Force is meeting daily and is in regular contact with all customers, employees, and office locations to ensure seamless continuity in our business operations.”

Within the LTL world, it has been reported that carriers continue to operate their trucking operations as well as have full office support functioning. The demand for non-essential goods have dropped dramatically. It is important to note that LTL carriers are not performing certain services like inside deliveries. They are also not requiring PODs to be signed in some areas, as well as limited also residential deliveries. In addition, there are many goods in the carrier’s possession that are unable to be delivered, resulting in clogged-up inner workings. Unfortunately, these will be subject to rules changes.
If you have freight currently in transit and being held, please contact us and let us help to work with the carriers.

It is not so cut and dry within the full/partial truckload world. Depending on the lane and which part of the country you’re trying to move freight, it can be very expensive or unusually cheap. Load volumes are down even though there was a 2020 first quarter trend of an increase. The “panic buying” that we all have been witnessing has been declared over with. Major retail corporations said they are seeing fewer customers while reporting spending has been cut 30%. This will cause suppliers to no longer ship their goods to refill the shelves. With a majority of citizens staying home, e-commerce orders have jumped which has helped to free up truckload availability. That with fuel prices dropping has helped to cause truckload rates to fall. As we are based in Florida and the produce season is starting, we have not seen this kind of capacity with rates dropping. We have seen rates increase while capacity becomes more limited. It still remains unseen how much COVID-19 will impact the supply chain, however, there has been an increasing number of drivers impacted with the illness or deciding to stay home.
– We remain positive that truckload volumes and rates are trending to return to seasonal normalcy; contact us to get a truckload rate.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Fortunately, we have all remained healthy and fit for work. We continue to work hard for you from our homes.Todd has suspended all sales work as he has been at home doing office work. With some added personal time, he has been able to produce a couple of graffiti videos. He has been thoroughly enjoying more family time and keeping his 3-year old entertained. He has also watched a number of movies and highly recommends ‘1917’. He misses hockey…a lot.

With his added free time, Alan picked up old hobbies like his guitar and piano, learning a new programming language and says, “you know, stuff I wouldn’t normally do when I was busy with life”.

Dessa and her family have been eating home cooked meals, playing games, and swimming in their pool. Dessa has also been tutoring children. Simply put, she says this has been “quality time at its finest”. She says she has become a better cook and baker, as well as spent time planting in the garden. She remains positive and feels this situation is a great opportunity to help in our own little way and give back to the most needy. She and her family pray each night together that this crisis will soon be over.

I’m sure some have received the corporate financial report for your account and past due invoices. They too, along with the carriers, have been doing their part to be productive. Andrea has been helping to facilitate some of those invoices to either help you get information surrounding specific invoices or reaching back out to corporate to explain an invoice is pending because of a claim, dispute, etc. on behalf of you so that corporate is up to date. Please reach out to her if you have any questions.

Andrea has also had time to do the amazing watercolor image seen to the right. We were so impressed with it. It was shared by an Instagram account that has over 500,000 followers. We are so proud of the work Andrea does for us here at Millennium Shipping as well as her art work like this. In addition to being an amazing employee, she is an incredibly talented artist!
