Container Shipping

An audit of your inbound freight is a way to recover operating costs and increase margins. Manufacturers frequently offer ocean and truckload transportation to clients as a courtesy and as a way to keep their docks clear and shorten payment cycles. The courtesy comes at a cost, as the transportation fees and a markup are added to the purchase order. As they mark up the rates and pass the cost along to their clients, there is a reduced incentive for manufacturers and sellers to negotiate the lowest rates available in the market. By taking delivery of your order at the factory (termed ex-works or ex-factory) or at the port of export (a practice called free on board), you take legal possession of your shipment earlier and exert more controls over the cost of delivering it your warehouse.

Controlling these costs can have a considerable impact on the sales margins for the
 products and does not require a purchaser to become a freight expert. Freight forwarders profit from their skill in negotiating prices for their clients in the marketplace and become your advocate in the volatile and changeable freight industry. An easy way to evaluate your potential savings is to request the “factory price” from your supplier on your next shipment. This means the price for you to arrange transport of the order.

Supply your broker with the details of the shipment and the transport “budget”, meaning the difference between your old cost and the reduced factory price. This allows your broker to find you a more cost- effective transportation solution and lower your cost to acquire the inventory for each shipment.

About the Team
Some were made aware of Todd’s recent and upcoming changes in his life.  While he

was on vacation earlier this month with his family he got married to his girlfriend, Elena.  We are very happy for them and congratulate them both.  They got married on June 5th in a park in the Orlando area.


To add to the change/ announcement  He is very excited to announce that they will be having a baby this October.  They purposely didn’t find out the sex of their baby but instead had the technician write it down and seal it.  They gave the piece of paper to the baker who made the inside of their wedding cake either pink or blue based on what they read.  It was a very exciting reveal and they’re happy to announce they’re having a baby boy.

Girl Scout Cookies

The girl scout cookies that Todd’s niece were selling have arrived.  For those who purchased the cookies, Todd will be around to distribute them.  He purchased some extra to give out so he will be around handing them out as well.  Thank you to those who helped Todd’s niece reach her goal of 1000 boxes.  She is attending her camp and is very excited!
