October

Hello! We hope this newsletter finds you safe, happy, and healthy.

Not much has changed since our last newsletter, however, there continue to be major disruptions with LTL carrier transit times due to capacity being pushed to extremes. This is across the board for all carriers, as well as regions. Carriers have been reporting record volumes and it has been predicted that this expansion will continue to be a trend through the end of the year. If you haven’t seen the increased demand with your own freight, it is likely because it seems to be geared mainly towards specific markets (such as the automotive industry), as well as the e-commerce markets. As capacity continues to be squeezed while we head into peak retail season, demand is exceeding LTL capacity. We urge you to reach out to us for questions and consulting on any decisions related to the industry.  We have added a transit time disclaimer to our quotes as a reminder to help facilitate making the best decision for you and your customer or supplier.

Covid and LTL delays, What to Expect

This has been a year of many unexpected firsts and situations that no one was prepared for. With LTL carriers being pushed to new and increasingly difficult limits, we are here to help, advise, and assist you through it.

Carriers are being asked to do more with less as the capacity has been shrinking. Carriers were already struggling to attract and keep drivers. There have been days when all of our shipments that were estimated to be delivered that day were all delayed. We have had shipments sit on the destination terminals property trapped in a trailer to be unloaded for several days.

The West Coast and the Gulf Coast have been impacted the most from these delays. Natural disasters have caused major delays in the North American supply chain system. Shipments that were sent out are now either stuck in the system or rejected.

What can you do? First, do not rely on the estimated transit times. The frequency of delays have jumped tenfold from what we have seen in the past. If you have a time-sensitive shipment, please reach out to us, as we’ll advise the best we can.

In the past we have strongly urged clients to go with guaranteed rates on time sensitive shipments that have the need to be at its destination by a specific date because of construction work or sail date aboard a container ship. However, the industry has sharply restricted guaranteed rates and can vary availability depending on the region. Some carriers guaranteed rates still come up on our quotes, but we advise you to contact us so we can ensure it’s available.

Our last suggestion is to ship your freight as a full truckload. Although more expensive, using this method is useful to avoid the wait, as well as to avoid a potential headache.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Todd’s son, Mikhail, celebrated his 4th birthday this month. To celebrate, Todd took him to meet up with Todd’s brother in Orlando for “real Star Wars” at Hollywood Studios. Mikhail declared, “I want another birthday!” (don’t we all!). Todd has also enjoyed playing/refereeing hockey again. He’s very happy to be on the ice and getting the rigorous exercise again.

Odessa and her husband celebrated their 16th year wedding anniversary this month (congratulations to them!). They went out of town with their kids and had an amazing time trying wake-boarding for the first time. The family is looking forward to celebrating Christmas and have already started decorating their home for the holiday season.

Andrea has enjoyed getting to know her neighbors better in the last few months. She has enjoyed spending more time in the garden which has helped her find some peace and relaxation. She has made it a priority to keep in touch with her family members who live abroad and is looking forward to when they can all reunite.

Alan has made the choice to participate in ‘Sober October’ for the 2nd year in a row. He is back in school taking virtual classes. He says it has been challenging, but he has been able to adjust and is getting all As (great job, Alan!). He also completed two marketing courses and received certifications from those. It has helped him to find ways to cut costs and shipping times only a few people know about in the dropshipping world.

CONTEST

This month, we are offering two $10 Amazon gift cards as a small token of our appreciation for two clients!
This pandemic situation has gone on longer than we had expected and hoped. However when we’re able, we’ll be excited to get back out there and see you! Until then, the pizza party is on hold but we’ll be holding the contest the FIRST chance we get!

In the meantime we thought, the first two clients to respond to this email (regardless of when you last shipped with us), will get a $15 Amazon gift card. We will only allow one per client.

Good luck!
