| Happy Holidays and a Safe New Year!
Our office will be closed December 24th-25th with limited service on the 26th. We will also be closed December 31st and January 1st as most carriers will be closed at this time. We will also provide limited service January 2nd (limited phone availability from 9am-4pm).
If you know ahead of time if you will be in need of any kind of service (LTL, TL, Volume, Expedited), please let us know and we will be attentive to those needs. |

Said to Contain and What it Means |

Have you ever seen or signed a bill with the term ‘Said to Contain’ (STC) on it? The carrier acknowledges the receipt of the stated number of packages but it is important to be aware that both parties are unaware of the exact nature, quantity, and/or value of their contents. This can put you or your customer in an undesirable position if a claim becomes necessary.
When you or your consignee is signing a ‘Said to Contain’ shipment, they are not signing for all of the boxes or items on the pallet. They are only counting and inspecting the number of items and not the individual goods declared on the BOL. For example, if they are signing for 2 pallets said to contain 100 boxes, they are actually signing for only the 2 pallets. If a claim is filed, it is filed as a concealed damage claim (please see our September Newsletter for more on concealed damage and what it means). If no visible damage is seen on the wrapping, banding, or boxes, and are not noted as such, a claim becomes nearly impossible to win.
If an insurance claim needs to be filed, the carrier’s liability may be limited only to the number of packages and not to the total value of the claim. Please contact us with information on how to further protect yourself.

About the Team |
Mark will be coming back from the cold temperatures of central New York to the welcoming warmth of Miami on January 14th- January 28th, and he would love to see you (or meet you). If you would like us to stop by, please send us an email and we will make sure to put you on the list.
Also, we would like to use this section to help someone in need. While Todd was visiting clients, one told him how her husband has recently become terminally ill. He is going through a difficult chemotherapy treatment and had to quit his job. She asked Todd if he knew of any part-time work available. If anyone knows of any part time work after 5pm or on the weekends, or has a lead for any such places hiring this type of work, please contact us.
