How Can a Small Mistake in Shipping Cost Big?

The Power of Double-Checking: did you notice in our newsletter last month that we made a typo on “purpose” that August had a typo in it? In all seriousness, we double check our work but still made an easy and preventable error. We will double check this newsletter and an error will still be missed. For fun, email us any that you may find.

In the fast-paced world of logistics and shipping, accuracy isn’t just important—it’s essential. A small oversight, like an incorrect address, a missing pallet count, or the wrong BOL used can quickly spiral into a much bigger problems. Delayed shipments, unhappy customers, additional costs and damages are just a few of the consequences we’ve seen from simple mistakes.

That’s why we believe in the power of double-checking everything. From the moment an order is placed to the final delivery, every detail matters. As a level of our dedicated services, after a client books a shipment we check class codes, ensure the load qualifies as LTL and for specific industries, we do a quick Google search to confirm a residential address. We do this little extra work on the front end to assist our clients with one last set of eyes. Correcting errors on the back end can be disastrous and timely. We want to ensure accuracy and limit any delays to avoid those timely and costly delays.

In this industry, margins are tight and timing is critical. Consider this: a shipment is scheduled to delivered on Friday, but someone inputs Monday by mistake. Now the truck shows up too early, no one is there to receive it, and redelivery fees kick in. Worse yet, the product is perishable or seasonal, and the missed delivery creates a ripple effect that impacts the customer’s business and your reputation. It happens more often than you’d think which is why we dedicate our service to doing all we can to catch any mistakes before they happen. Our commitment to accuracy is part of how we protect your time, your budget, and your reputation.

We’ve built processes that ensure details are reviewed, verified, and confirmed. With permission, we even call our clients shippers to ensure they have our BOL and verify their ready and close times are accurate. Too many times we find a shipper closes at 5 every day but before a holiday weekend they’re closing at 3:30. This is why superior customer service matters and is greatly appreciated from our clients. This level of dedication is so  impactful that we’ve had clients for over 15 years. Avoiding the frustrating experience of a shipping error due to a “small” mistake is why we bring value to be a meticulous logistics partner.

ABOUT THE TEAM

If you know Todd, you know he has a passion for art and specifically for the graffiti style. With over 25 years of experience he is now considered an old head in the community and has the grey hair to be properly certified. A short story about his graffiti and Millennium Shipping starts at a corporate convention.

He met a nice couple from Jacksonville and as the conversation progressed, they learned that he participates in the graffiti are form. They were impressed with his work and urged him to incorporate it into his business. He spent the next year conceptualizing over the idea and possibilities. Freight, art, graffiti, shipping, sales, business… he couldn’t find a connect. It really took a whole year but then he remembered a conversation he had with a client long before this concept was brought to his attention. The client made a comment that there are, “two Todds”, the all business professional Todd and then the Facebook, quirky-funny Todd. Thinking on that comment and the idea to merge the graffiti/Millennium concept, you could have seen the lightbulb go on over his head.

If you’ve been a client of Todds long enough you may have seen the transition from those two separate personalities to a blend together. When he meets with clients or does sales, you see him as who he is. Always professional but he is going to be who he is and wants to build true genuine connection to build lasting relationships with his clients. It has also opened doors to reach higher levels of enjoyment in what he does in sales and networking.
